AN ENTREPRENEURIAL VISION.Our founder, Hubert Perrodo, was a man ahead of his time. Perenco was created from his entrepreneurial vision, after he found a gap in the market in mature oil and gas fields. Perenco is a leading independent oil and gas company started by Hubert Perrodo. His vision for mature fields was ahead of its time and has allowed us to grow sustainably since 1992. This growth mindset has been reinforced under the leadership of his son François. While we’re future-focused, we’re incredibly proud of our journey so far.

    Hubert Perrodo acquires his first offshore oil field from Amoco in Gabon and creates a business model which becomes the Perenco we know today.

    1993 > 2003

    Perenco builds a global portfolio with assets in Colombia, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Guatemala, the North Sea, the Republic of Congo, Turkey, Tunisia and Venezuela.

  • François Perrodo takes the helm

    François Perrodo takes over the running of the company after the loss of his father.

    Perenco continues to develop its oil and gas production. External growth is measured in Cameroon, Colombia, the Republic of Congo, the United Kingdom and Vietnam.

    From 2017 onwards Perenco centres its new strategy on operations and projects through innovation. Reinventing the future of exploration-production in the countries where we operate. Gas will be more and more important in the company, in accordance with the host countries’ energy transition policies. We’ll do more locally to support its development and more internationally to feed it with new innovations. We know there is much more that can be done in these countries and with these fields. We’ve created new jobs - jobs of the future - to support this growth. HEALTH: Production sites all have healthcare and first-aid facilities as well as training, evacuation and emergency response plans. SAFETY: Our people are trained in operational security, crisis management and standardised technical training based on their roles. Teams complete a thorough QHSE induction before entering any site. Without safety, there can be no operations. Safety is our priority. This is why we launched a major new safety programme, DSS+, in 2022, and we continue to integrate safety into a process of continuous improvement on a daily basis.
